Ok, I got this to work.

was highly useful once I found it.  Now:

works for me.  So I withdraw the Epoch patches.

Any objections then to the two (attached again) Hawkey spec patches?
I could probably build using the epel7 dist-git, but the goal here is to
stay more in sync with upstream git, and the rawhide spec branches
are more likely to be up to date.
