Funnily enough, @dmach and I had talked about this briefly the last time we met in person. It's still something that I think would be awesome to pursue, and probably would be the opportunity to rewrite the program from Perl to Python or C/C++ to leverage librpm for that.

But the issue is figuring out how to do that while mingling in (correct) deb output creation.
