To me, a padding of zero bytes is a non-existent in practise. Which is what I meant, but seems that's not actually relevant here at all. `headerExport(headerImport(header))` is a round-trip I can understand though.

I'm not sure if the padding is actually *documented* to be zeroes anywhere, but that is certainly implied, only not verified (they're just cracks between the floor boards). Don't see anything particularly v6 about that.
