We're pleased to announce the availability of RPM release 4.11.0.
The list of changes from RPM 4.10.x branch is vast, but here's an
executive summary of some of the more notable improvements:
- Numerous speed and memory-usage optimizations ranging from
transaction checks and execution to package build times
- Numerous fixes to %config file behavior including missing,
redundant and destructive backups
- Several improvements to conflict detection, including detection
of attempts to replace directories with non-directories and
symlinks with directories
- Stricter validation of spec syntax, improved error messages
- New %doc-like %license directive in spec %files to allow
easily separating licenses from excludable documentation
- New %autosetup macro to fully automate source unpacking and
patch application, optionally with DVCS integration
