rpm and platform detection

So maybe you should figure out what's going wrong there, as elfutils
is part of many Linux distributions.

Sounds like a good plan.

Also, rather than going with the version of rpm that Red Hat has started
maintaining again, have you considered rpm 5.x from rpm5.org?
