RPM Rollback - which hooks are activated

Hello,

I'm writing upgrade/rollback mechanism for our software.
I read several articles about what's being run during upgrade, and how to repackage the old rpm.

What happens during - -rollback of the package I have just installed?

 *   Does the %pre %post of the old package activated?
 *   Does %preun %postun of new current package run?
 *   What happens if I use the auto rollback feature upon error? Is it safe to use?
