I think that is our problem. On software releases includes typically 50k file names that are almost all put to the same directory.

We are using already RPM version 4.4.2.1
But I will test the 4.6 RPM release. I hope there are not too many external dependencies. Any fixes of memory leaks would improve the situation.

Our RPM database sits in a different place and does not belong root, but that does not matter.
