In fact @rpm5.org have a copy of max-rpm in their repo:

cvs -d :pserver:anonymous at rpm5.org:/cvs login

press return

cvs  -d :pserver:rpm-cvs at rpm5.org:/v/rpm/cvs co max-rpm

It would be interesting to see who is the legal owner of the work and the
mantainer. From a moral point of view personally I have no doubt of who
would be the owner.
