Actually, what they did was just not specify it at all in setuptools. As I said before, a lot of distributions didn't install the egg data _at all_, so the old name wouldn't work either.

I'd be happy to provide a way for the old name to map to the current one, but it seems the Python community believes such a capability is unnecessary...
