@kalev, what rpm supports is one thing, what packages are permitted to do in Fedora is an entirely different thing. For a highly related example, rpm has supported the tilde operator in version for more than six years but it's still disallowed by policy in Fedora so based on past experience, I wouldn't be too worried about Fedora policies changing too fast ;)
