Sigh... allowing the package to init the repo in order to use its own git configuration seems to be a valid use case, one that we broke with 3a6b1d8fbf846d3f1b139d343fdfddebe99ae42b. Overall, the assumption that there would be a specific branch name when `git init` may or may not succeed is flawed.

This could be fixed in the macro of course, but at that point I'm really starting to question the rationale behind the commit in the first place, and am inclined to just revert it instead. I'll probably do the revert in Fedora for now at least so that edk2 and possibly other packages are unblocked.
