Oh and flagged ready for review/merge now.

I'm quite sure there are some funny corner cases left, usually best discovered by brave testers.
One point worth noting on this all that it's of course subject to all the symlink CVE flaws as install is, but then the aliases were even worse, AND when when we fix this for install it gets fixed for restore too.
