Fair point, I'll do it as part of this PR - so marking as draft now :smile: 

And yep, let's not complicate for now, a release script isn't actually necessary and it's beyond the scope here, so I'll just move the release_maintenance.md file over *and* add the instructions on how to create releases, as you suggested.
