Hmm, one possibility would be preserving the functionality for now but only allow in v4 mode. It's always been allowed there so we couldn't rely on the per-file dependency info anyhow, but v6 offers a fresh start with fresh opportunities. So we could actually force v6 packages to have this data while allowing v4 to be built in whatever manner they always were.
