I originally implemented the systemd scriptlets in Lua years ago because I discovered ugly dependency loops when they were written in bash and it made making minimal chroots difficult. But this was before all the new machinery in systemd and rpm, which uncovered all these quirks.
I would definitely like for Lua scriptlets to be on a similar foothold since the big advantage of not being dependent on an external interpreter is very valuable for early-stage components.
