There were several ideas discussed within a Konflux-related Slack channel, and I was asked to update the RFE here.
We don't specifically require `git archive` to be involved, in case RPM team prefers to have a **"forge agnostic"** solution. That said, having a way to tell `rpmbuild` to archive `%_sourcedir`, or even a separate new `%_FooDir`, would probably be good enough.
We also touched upon the **reproducibility** perspective (`git archive` is a more or less reproducible approach, compared to plain `tar cf`), and noted that, e.g., [Tito](https://github.com/rpm-software-management/tito) does something similar (but it's overly complicated, requiring auto-modifications of spec files at release time, etc.).
