Sorry but I don't follow. I even went as far as looking up the Slack thread you mentioned but that didn't clear it up much for me 😅 

What are you actually looking to do? Is it building an (S)RPM directly from a source tree? If so, that's precisely what `--build-in-place` is meant for. It *should* work with `-bs`, too, and if it doesn't, that's likely a bug we should investigate.
