Cleanup is set of concrete steps you can skip and corresponds to spec %clean as well. Parse is different for sure in that without a parse there cannot be a build, so it seems relevant to mention it someplace :smile: Might make more sense if we also listed the other prep stages in the tar and src.rpm builds (which require some level of unpacking before a parse): these a broader category of preparatory activities, but not to be mixed with %prep.

I wouldn't mind using the term "step" instead of "stage" here but I don't think it's a good word for a broader category. To me, a stage can consist of multiple steps, not the other way around. Another similar word that might work for the broader category is "phase".
