Mmh, chiming in here because I reviewed this in Fedora originally (https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/rpm/pull-request/25) and suggested the name "vendor_opts" instead. 

Apparently it went into rhel-9 as vendor_opts, but Fedora has extra_ops. What a mess.
I think that case stands though, "extra_opts" is so vague nobody knows when or who should use it, as opposed to the regular _opts macro. 

Also this is upstream, referencing redhat-rpm-config is in the main macros file is not appropriate.
