Oh, and one important note that I forgot to mention - all this is only relevant if RPM is configured to actually do the old-style NSS lookup. The sensible default for `--root` operation should be to do our own file-based lookup only. This is also important in the sysusers context because the `systemd-sysusers` utility (as well as our own script) only uses `--root` as well in that case (as we saw in the sources the other day).
